Lenovo Vibe P1m Express Review

Another Lenovo smartphone with battery life

After Xiaomi, if there’s one brand which is successful in making the right noises in sub-Rs 10,000 budget smartphone market in India, then it definitely has to be Lenovo. Adding to the K3 Note momentum, Lenovo had recently launched its Vibe P1m at a price of Rs 7,999. The new budget offering focuses on the battery life, which others mostly lack in this price range. After using the Vibe P1m for quite some time, here is my review.

This smartphone tries to offer a balanced experience with the regular budget spec sheet package. It is not among the good looking smartphones. The big 3,900mAh battery inside makes the phone look bulky. Again, like any other budget phone, there’s too much plastic. The device sports a 5-inch 720p display and is powered by a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 CPU with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB. There is an 8MP shooter with Flash at the back and a 5MP selfie camera. This is a dual SIM phone and supports 4G on one SIM slot and 3G on both. Overall, this Android Lollipop powered smartphone has nothing much to boast apart from claiming superior battery life.

Specs: 5-inch IPS 720p display | Android 5.0 Lollipop powered Vibe UI | 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 CPU | 2GB RAM | 16GB ROM (32GB expandable) | 8MP + 5MP cameras | dual SIM with 4G support| 3,900mAh battery.

Price: Rs 7,999.

What is good? Though the device looks bulky, the build quality is good when you compare other smartphones in this price range. The best feature has to be the dedicated power saving mode button on the left side. The moment you slide the button up, your Vibe P1m will become a feature phone. And slide it down to make it a smartphone. This will definitely come handy when you are running out of juice. On the performance front, there are no major drawbacks. The device runs smoothly without any lags or app crashes. Coming to the battery life of the device, you can expect a maximum of two days battery life on a single full charge. Obviously, this is great news in the budget smartphone race.

Verdict: Given the highly competitive budget smartphone race, the Vibe P1m feels like just another device from Lenovo. The smartphone does hold on to its good battery life promise. If you are happy with two days battery in the similar Lenovo packaging then go for it.
